“Did you see the snow?” It’s the most common question you hear in the winter. Weather impacts every day living. It causes confusion and frustration for so many who already have plans for the day. “Where’s the shovel”, “I’m late for work”, “Canceling appointments”, “No Shopping today “! These are a few unexpected changes that can cause havoc in ones life. Anything that impacts your daily routine can cause you to have a slight shift in your brain. If your already struggling with your mental health you most likely find days like these almost impossible to get through.

This weekend reminded me of how valuable a day to day schedule can be. My first thought before getting out of bed was naturally to look out my window at the glistening mountain of snow. However I reminded myself not to hop out of bed so quickly. Today was going to be a day indoors and I knew Brittany was going to struggle with her mental health. Her dad always took her out for a drive on Sundays but that was not going to happen. His Hummer broke down and he was not going anywhere.

It was time for my morning wheels to start spinning and start planning our day. I lay in my bed and start with one imaginary block at a time.

Socializing was going to be a great choice. Brittany has a lot of compassion for others. Our neighbor just lost her sister recently. All I had to do was make the kind suggestion to bake some goodies and visit for a coffee. Sometimes comforting others can remind you that your needed and appreciated.

The next thing on the list was a chore block. She had a few dishes to do and I had laundry. It was important that we both work on the house together. We always put the music on while cleaning and try to sing the lyrics. I always changed the words to make it more fun. It’s a great way to motivate her.

Then I started to think of the self care block. We went shopping with my sister Sandy and she insisted on buying new clothes for Brittany. What a great way to encourage her to take a nice long bath and model her new clothes. Feeling good about yourself is a great way to build confidence.

The Wellness block was next and an easy one for me. There was a lot of snow out there and my sister also bought me a new shovel. I thought a little shoveling snow and shoving each other in the snow would be fun and a great way to get some exercise. Laughter increases endorphins that are released from your brain and exercise is a great way to release stress.

Now it’s time to choose a task I have been wanting to work on. My Cricut is still sitting on my kitchen table and to be honest I have not been feeling up to the challenge. Today I am a little more clear minded and ready to make yet another attempt to design something special for my sister. As for Brittany I am hoping she will learn how to design on Canva. I know she has a very creative mind and if only I could get her to design my thumbnails. It would be so cool to share them with you.

I think we managed to come up with a full day planned. Let’s see how many blocks we can earn. Now it’s time to glance out my window and enjoy the blanket of white snow from indoors before I sit with Brittany and discuss how we will start our day. With any luck it will be a great day!

Thankyou for hopping on board my Personal Journey to rebuilding a new lifestyle. How is your day stacking up?

Join me for the sequel, and we will share how many blocks we earned on Sunday. Bringing a little piece of my day to inspire a little hope in yours.
