Snow Day-Part Two
Are you ready to join me on another personal Daily Journey to a healthier lifestyle. Over the weekend there were so many cancelations and disappointments due to the weather. I knew the importance of ensuring that the days were not going to be long and boring for Brittany. Anytime there is a shift in our day Brittany struggles with her mental health. She becomes depressed, anxious, and lacks the motivation to want to do anything. All I can do is try to make her day a little interesting by using the daily blocks as my guide. Let’s follow up on how successful our day was following a “Snow Day” that ruined several of our weekend plans.
If you read my last blog “Snow Days” I planned out a full-day using my personal building blocks as my guide. Today I will be sharing how successful our day was as well as how many daily blocks I earned. Are you ready to join me and start building your own personal blocks to a healthier lifestyle?
Brittany and I sat down for our morning coffee to discuss our plans for the day. It started with the same questions she asked every morning. The first question, “What day is it today”? I knew her response as soon as I told her it was Sunday. ” My daddy takes me out today”, but this time she was not going to be happy with my reply. I reminded her that her dad’s Hummer broke down and he had to cancel. She was disappointed and became very withdrawn. I knew she needed to get out of the house and my first building block was going to be a social activity.
Brittany has always been compassionate to others in need especially the homeless. She always has cigarettes and a few dollars to give in case she saw a homeless person asking for money. I reminded her that our neighbor recently lost her sister to cancer. Then I made the suggestion that we bake something and bring it to her.
Brittany was more than happy to bake some lemon muffins and stop by the neighbors to surprise her with a visit. She was ready to get started with her day and found the perfect recipe to make lemon cupcakes. Then we both checked to make sure we had all the ingredients she needed to make them.
Everything was going great until she asked for more muffin liners. “You just filled a muffin pan with liners, why do you need more”? I asked. She explained that after pouring the batter in the muffin tray she realized that the sugar was still on the counter. “Oh no”! I thought. You need to cream the butter and sugar to help the muffins rise. I kept quiet because I knew she would get discouraged and throw the whole plan out the window along with the batter.
The muffins were in the oven and my fingers were crossed that they would turn out. She took the muffins out of the oven and called me in the kitchen. “I don’t think they are cooked yet”. I then realized she was using the larger muffin pans and that meant the baking instructions would be different. I put the muffins back in the oven for another ten minutes. Finally they were ready and all that was left was a nice sweet lemon glaze . She asked me to taste one. I knew they were not going to be perfect but they were edible enough to serve.

The next few blocks were going to be a challenge but I was determined to complete at least a few building blocks to make for a successful day. She followed through and took a bath, we shoveled the walk way with my new shovel, completed the laundry and even cleaned the kitchen.

There was one block lingering in the back of my mind. I promised myself that I was going to get the Cricut to work. The Cricut was ready to go and my design was uploaded. I was sure as soon as I pressed the start button a notification would pop up and it would fail me once more. To my surprise, the vinyl went through the machine and it started the cutting process. It worked!. I decided a perfect place for my first logo. It was a practice run but I was happy with the outcome. Check it out!

At the end of the day I was pleasantly surprised how well our day turned out. I look forward to sharing more adventurous days with you. Please subscribe and take part in building your day using our building blocks as your guide.
