Part two of my latest post Todays My Lucky Day! I promised to share the rest of my day with you so hear goes….
Shortly after I finished my blog, Brittany’s dad John called and invited us to go to Costco. I knew I needed a few things but wasn’t sure if Brittany would be willing to go. After talking to her it was obvious she was not going to tag along. I hated to leave her alone but my neighbors were always available to check in on her.
Lucky for me my friend popped in for a coffee with little Kailani. I explained that I had to go out and she was more than happy to stay with Brittany. I managed to have time for a coffee and watch a little Master Chef with her before I was on my way. It was a great visit.
Finally I was in the truck, John asked that I move something from the back seat. As I turned to look back my beautiful baby girl Kimberly popped out from the back seat. I was so excited to find out that she was going to join us. This was going to be an adventure. Kimberly and I chatted about the physics of body building and her new diet. I still don’t understand the losing and gaining weight part but I’m confident she knows what she’s doing.
I was easily distracted by a large wild turkey wondering on the side of the road. I was so excited and asked John to pull over so I could get a picture. There was no convincing him to stop and Lord knows I tried. My big brown eyes staring at him with a sad pouty face and still he drove right past it. Wish I would have got just one pic but life doesn’t always hand you what you want.
We shopped for a good hour but I only needed a few items, kitty litter, water and toilet paper. John tried to convince me to buy Charmin toilet paper but I always check the measurements and the Kirkland brand was by far the bigger deal. Kimberly was determined to buy all the healthy food for yet another new diet. John just puttered around touching and poking at all the fruits. I can only imagine what he was like as a child in the grocery store.

On our way to the truck my daughter hung a big jumbo shrimp in my face “Want one mom”, I chuckled, she knew I never ate seafood in my life. One bad experience with cat fish was enough for me to stay far away from anything that came from the water. Nope not happening. Suddenly John waved a $20.00 dollar bill in front of me. “would you do it for a 20 dollar bill”. I’m all up for a challenge but warned him to keep the window open and be ready for some projectile vomiting. Kimberly was so excited and pulled out her camera to take a video and a pic. Truthfully I really just wanted to please my little girl, she always wanted me to try seafood, the $20 was a bonus.

Here goes, 1 2 3 I count and “nope can’t do it” we laughed so hard and with out warning and in one swoop, down the hatch! OMG So chewy, when’s it going to end. John could not help but to talk me through it. I so badly just wanted to open the door and release this thing they call food.. The gagging, persistence and laughing gave me the strength and determination, finally all was gone. Snatched that 20 from john’s hand. We had so much fun, a great memory for the books.
On our way home we stopped at Loblaws and I got Feenies treats. Kimberly found some St Patty day cookies for her dad. He stayed in the car and waited patiently. I could not get home fast enough to rinse whatever that long lasting taste was in my mouth. However I would definitely be open to trying it again. I really want to start having fish in my diet. It’s so good for you! Who knows I may just try Oysters next but that won’t be for a while. Sorry, I can’t share the video but maybe I’ll post it on my You tube down the road. For now here’s a pic.
I mean that is one big shrimp ,”right”!
My entire day did not go as planned but there’s always tomorrow. I promised a perfect lemon blueberry loaf and that’s going to happen today. I also may share a few dinner recipes down the road. I made one of my favorite meals last night and thought it may be worth the share one day. Chili meatballs (usually stuffed with a boiled egg) with a cheesy mac and cheese.
