It’s time for another daily dose of It’s my life . It’s a spoon full so get ready to enjoy all the variety of flavors my journey has to offer. It’s been a very trying road with Brittany the past few months but I haven’t given up. We met several goals in the past such her focus on hygiene, daily chores, taking meds and so many other great changes. It can tare you apart when simple changes, change the direction of your life. Although Brittany still meets some of her daily goals, she is not responding well to social avenues and physical activities. Brittany has become very reliant on me when there is any spare time in between the day. I can only imagine this is as a result of not having her friend over as often.

She completely stopped playing the guitar, hopefully it’s not lost forever. She was once a great baker but lately we have wasted more than we ate. I had a little glee of hope after organizing her arts and crafts. She pulled out some arts and crafts recently to play with Kailani. Last time Kailani had fun with stickers but this time she had the chance to be more creative, thanks to Brittany! That’s the last I saw any crafts out, maybe her next visit. She lost any interests in doing anything that involves being in her room alone.

It’s funny how my intentions and tactics to get her out of the room worked but a new change came along with it. She was most definitely still struggling with being alone and very dependent on me to fill the void. Something had to change within the home but what was it going to take. Suddenly our last week became a journey to healing for her with out any effort on my part.

I had my early morning chat with Brittany and shared my concerns regarding her lack of motivation. The conversation went as well as can be expected but truthfully I left feeling deflated. What can I do? My mind was spinning like a mouse trapped on a wheel. We came out of the room and watched a little tv then off to bed she went for a morning cuddle with Mr. Feenie. It’s hard to resist a little cuddle from Feenie. As for me I started blogging. I was sure the rest of the day was going to be filled with Yahtzee and darts but I received a surprising call from my sister Sandy.

My sister asked if I thought Brittany would enjoy a Nintendo Switch. There was a time when Brittany was addicted to Sega and nothing would get done in the home but I’m confident that her maturity has grown and this may be a golden ticket to cheer her up. That was not all, she wanted to take us shopping so she could get a game and controller. So blessed to have her in my life, I was very grateful. As soon as we got back to the house the switch was charging and Brittany had a little spark growing. We had it originally set in her room but I decided to hook it up in the living room instead.

The next morning her dad called while she was playing her game. He offered to take us for a drive and suggested the thrift store. Brittany was a collector back in the day but this time she agreed so she could get out of the house. I was more than happy to go and check out their old records with Brittany. We came across some great ones that brought back memories, had a few chuckles and moved along. Her dad shouted from across the store, all the way to the back we go. He shared a few items of Elvis with her and even offered to buy her one but “nope, not for that price”. It took me back a bit that she understood how ridiculous the prices were.

John was set on finding something she would like, He picked up an old Disco album, Britt agreed to try it at home and off we went. Brittany still has not played the record yet😉. At the very least the shopping trip helped me understand why she has no interest in collectables. The trip got me thinking about some great avenues we could go visit that are free. There are a lot of Mini Plaza’s I haven’t visited in Ottawa, I mentioned it to Brittany and she wants to visit Rideau Street. Done Deal, we have an adventure to look forward to.

Check out what we found at the Thrift Store!

Later that evening John wanted to take me out for a bite to eat, Brittany was with the nurse. I was more than happy to nibble on some pizza. We drove down Kanata to pick up our favorite pizza from Willy’s, “Yum to sum it up”. We sat in the car and people watched while chomping on a heavenly slice of Hawaiian.

There was a lady sitting in her car and she was crying uncontrollably. I so badly wanted to go and just give her a big hug, ask no questions. I think going back 20 years ago I probably would not have even questioned the thought but sad to say I think on a very different level these days.

Then standing outside Dollarama was a lady probably 60 years old, frail and she just looked lost. We had intentions of giving her a few dollars but she had left before we were done. It can be a real experience to watch the lifestyle of others with out judgment. Some people probably would not enjoy onlookers but truthfully when your outside your vulnerable to people staring and gossiping. It’s nothing more than strolling on face book.

As I said it’s truly been a really interesting week. So next thing you know, I receive an invitation to my friends grand daughter Kailani. At first I was afraid to even suggest the idea of going but then I realized, her friend Julie was going to be there, she’s the aunty and it was being held at her home. This was great ammo to convince Brittany to go. She has been wanting to see her friend Julie’s new home.

Brittany agreed to go and was excited to shop for her gift. When we got home my friend had called to visit for coffee. During our chat my friend mentioned the idea of Brittany baking for the kids. It was settled Brittany was making a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Everything was going smoothly until I entered the kitchen. I thought the batter was too dry and decided we needed to start a new batch. Brittany agreed and returned to the couch. “Yes, the couch” usually it would be her room for a cuddle or cat nap but now we have a switch and she is switched on life in the living room. After all the cookies were made I decided to treat myself to a jumbo cookie and milk for later in the day. We shall see if she can maintain a healthy lifestyle with a game in hand.

We arrived at the party with cookies in hand. I noticed emmediatly the amount of ballons. Brittany always hated balloons but this time it never fazed her. We sat down and enjoyed watching all the kids run around. They were very well behaved kids, laughing and playing but no screaming. Music to my ears. The cake was beautiful. I called Kailani over for a picture and she never says no to smiling for the camera. I told her to say cheese and un announced to me she had a cheezy in her hand. A priceless pic to end the night. What a great week.

Join me tomorrow and I’ll tell you all about my next new set of tracks to a healthier lifestyle. ❤️‍🩹

Thank you for your ongoing support 😊
