Many who struggle with dark thoughts often find creative ways to release negative energy. Unfortunately we experienced Brittany struggling with her dark thoughts the past few days. The snow had her feeling trapped and she was dealing with one disappointment after another. My mother use to say “Life is full of disappointment get over it”, however it’s not that simple for anyone struggling with their Mental Health. She sat emotionless in her computer chair for a good hour building up dark thoughts, becoming more and more anxious, her feet constantly shaking, the occasional rocking back and forth in the chair until tears started flooding down her cheeks.
The hardest part for me as a caregiver is the constant need for her to find her happiness. I worry that her deep attachment to others will eventually diminish all her efforts to thrive and build herself a new life style. I understand the importance of accepting life changes and learning how to cope on your own.
I finally convinced her to take her thoughts and write another poem for my blog. The last blog got a lot of positive feed back, thankyou for your encouragement. I hope to continue encouraging her to find a way to manage being alone and no longer depend on others for her own happiness . It is only then that she will be happy and content with her own self.
I hope you enjoy!!!
I’m fighting through darkness, hate and pain
I’m fighting my Demons as their calling my name
It’s all too overwhelming, too much to take
The smile you see is really just fake
I’ll focus on changes that can help me within
Some day this battle, I know I will win.
