Day Six of My Daily Journal

“What will be in store for me today”? It took a little longer than usual to plan my day. Today was just a regular day with very little to do. I tried rolling over for a few more Z’s . I was hoping to clear my mind and plan out the day. Mr. Feenie was not having any of it. In case you missed my past blogs Mr. Feenie is our unlicensed Service cat. He follows routine more than Brittany and I both. It was obvious he was not going to wait any longer for breakfast. That’s what started my wheels spinning. I’m going to start the day with a nice breakfast. I still hadn’t planned out the rest of the day but Mr. Feenie was getting anxious and the sound of his meow was like listening to a screeching child. It was not a great start for the morning.

I fed Mr. Feenie his soft and dry food so I could finally get some peace and quiet before Brittany wakes up. I love having a few minutes to myself whenever it’s possible. It was obvious that was not going to be the case this morning. “Mom” Brittany shouted from the room, “Could you make my ice cap”. I had not even started my coffee and I was feeling anxious. As I was making her ice cap, I had to remind myself to regroup and turn this dreadful morning around.
Then I remembered it was football Sunday and Buffalo was playing. Back in the day I was a huge fan of Buffalo. That was until my favorite quarterback Doug Flutie, whom I followed from the CFL got replaced by Johnson during the playoffs. I decided the team did not deserve to win and switched to a more loyal team. Pittsburg steelers had a very emotional coach that year. Bill Cowher was a loyal dedicated and a devoted Coach. However I would love to see Buffalo in the Superbowl now that the Steelers are out.
It wasn’t long before I remembered Brittany’s Grandparents had a carpet they wanted to drop off. That usually means they plan on staying for a visit. My house needed a good tidy and I had a little more energy now that I was excited for the Football game. As I was tidying up I realized I forgot to put some of the Christmas decorations away. I gathered them all up and put away all the wonderful memories of this Christmas until next year.

After I was finished cleaning I sat down to enjoy my second cup of coffee with Brittany. It’s important I help her stay positive to avoid a long day of depression among other things. She has her guitar and now spends several hours practicing. When she gets tired of playing I encourage her to paint, write or do some clay art. There are a lot of avenues to choose from. That’s why I came up with the Seven Day Challenge. Keeping my day busy encourages her to keep herself busy.
During our coffee chat I heard someone trying to get in the gate. It was her Grandparents trying to jimmy the gate. The lock was frozen but eventually they managed to open it. Her grandmother Julie had an old raggedy carpet. I’m sure it was beautiful at one time but definitely not something I would like. Luckily my brother Kenny arrived to bring Brittany up to play games. He immediately locked in on the carpet. She knew from my expression it was not my taste and offered it to Kenny instead.
We enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and chatted about my home. She always compliments me and reminds how cozy my home feels. Harvey her grandfather was trying to tune Brittany’s guitar. He has a bit of a hearing problem so it was hard to talk to him with out shouting. I guess the guitar gave him a reason to avoid having a conversation. It was a nice visit and she gave me some cookies for my game.

The game was about to begin and I had my snacks ready. Brittany offered to make me some quesadilla’s and I already had my sweet treat to go with them. The quesadilla’s were delicious but I probably could have had two. I filled up on the cookies and had the rest of the day to enjoy the football game.

I hope you had a nice day! Let me know in the comment below.
